Hi

Im sorta new to anime! Have just recently gotten into it and I have been very impressed with what I have seen so far(cowboy bebop, berserk, samurai champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist, Wonderful Days( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrdXb3EdmFM <- liked this allot

) and Gungrave.

But I was wondering if you watch it or have watched anything? My friends think im an ultra loser for watching it

But I still watch it though. I think it's cool

So... Do you watch? Don't you watch? Why? Why not?

I love love LOVE Anime, and no you're NOT a loser for watching it. What kind of friends are those??

I'd recommend Miyazaki-san's amazing works like Mononoke no Hime (Princess Mononoke), Spirited Away, and Nausicaa if you want to see some truly wonderful, charming and breathtakingly imaginative Anime. He's a genius.

I watch Anime regularly and even though I prefer watching the original Japanese soundtracks with English subtitles, I do watch Adult Swim's Saturday night Anime lineup because it has some of my all-time favorites, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Cowboy Bebop. I never miss them, even though I've seen NGE several times over already.

I'd also recommend Record of Loduss War for some great Fantasy-themed Anime. It's sort of like LOTR in terms of how epic it is and the characters. I'd also suggest the original Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Wings of Honneiamise (not sure of the exact spelling there), and Bubblegum Crisis.

I'll post more if I think of any, which I'm sure I will.

^Took all the suggestions right out of my mouth. Those are all great movies/animes.

Additionally, Trigun is great. I too will tell some more if I think of them. Welcome to the civilized world.

you're now on my cool people list. miyazaki's films are some of the best ever, and nausicaa is my personal favorite. to the OP, basically check out anything from studio ghibli. they have the more serious type of films like nausicaa and mononoke, and they have more light-hearted ones like spirited away, totoro, laputa, and kurenai no buta. most of ghibli's films are directed by miyazaki.

from the list you have given, it seems like you're more into the serious thinker type animes. for those who haven't seen it yet, i would highly suggest the gundam seed and gundam seed destiny series. it's not like other gundams i have seen and is definitely very good.

there are too many good ones to name, but some of my faves (aside from the ones already mentioned) include vandread, rurouni kenshin, ranma 1/2, and one piece. those are the ones i can think of at the moment. i will post more when i can remember them.

If you're talking about "thinking" kinds of Anime, and really want to exercise your brain, Ghost in the Shell is definitely one of the best. It explores philosophy, metaphysics, human nature, the human soul, cyber-culture, and reality itself, all against this ultra-tech backdrop. It also features my favorite character of all-time, the beautiful, kick-ass Major Motoko Kusanagi.

GitS: SAC 1st and 2nd Gigs go even further into those themes, and the episodes are very challenging at times. They respect the viewers and reward them for PAYING ATTENTION and *thinking.*

Whereas some programs like Dragonball Z offer the lowest, most insulting form of entertainment in the medium and should never be watched by anyone who wants to truly experience the best of Anime. (God, I hate Dragonball Z)

I think the 30.6 gigs of Naruto on my computer speaks for itself. Soon I will free myself of about 3 gigs of fillers.

Also Ghost in the Shell, and some seasons of Yu-gi-oh, gotta love that sexy Seto Kaiba.

Xenosaga the Animation: 12 episodes taking place over the span of the 1st game.
Excel Saga: 26 episodes
Love Hina: 24 episodes + 2 movies and one mini series of 3 episodes taking place after the first two movies.
Hellsing: 13 episodes
Rurouni Kenshin/ Samurai X: 3 movies (explains a lot more than the normal series ever did)
Burst Angel (Bakuretsu Tenshi): 24 episodes
Girls Bravo: 25 episodes
Ragnarok The Animation: 26 Episodes
S-cry-ed: 26 Episodes
Zoids New Century (Zero): 26 episodes
Ninja Scroll: Movie (Havent seen the series.)
Neon Genesis Evangelion: 26 episodes + 2 movies (last few episodes have alternate episodes)

So yeah thats what I have currently and/or have seen all the way through. All of them are pretty good. A lot of different styles. I am also looking to get more. It's just a matter of time.

Some of my favorites are the most of the Tenchi series (starting with the OVA's), Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Excel Saga, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Please Teacher/Please Twins (haven't seen all of the latter yet), and I've really liked what I've seen of Samurai 7.

Those Miyazaki movies are good choices too.

And Cutey Honey has its moments.

EDIT: Just a little warning about Evangleon, it's at its best during the first half of the series or so.

BTW, if you really want something different, get fully coolly.

From what I've seen Gungrave is my favorite, princess mononoke's really good, seventh samurai, and ghost in the shell. I'd say stay away from Naruto...it rots your brain. Yeah my friends used to laugh at me for watching anime too, and they still dont like it, but they shut up after they saw a few episodes of gun grave.

神無月の巫女 (Kannazuki no Miko) is a series that you'll either love, hate, or hate so much that you'll have the urge to hunt down and do bad things to the creator. Ending is awful.

Come to think of it, the ending to Witch Hunter Robin is awful, too. I don't like anime as much as everyone else does, obviously.

ローゼンメイデン (Rozen Maiden) is deliciously disturbing. There's a sequel, too.

Why am I mentioning both when I obviously have a dislike for the entire genre? Well, there was nothing else to watch while they were airing on television...

correction: there is actually 2 naruto movies ( the hidden waterfall town and the snow country) and yes there is 175 episodes and the number is rising..

well anyway i looove anime, it's just great : i'm addicted to naruto and i liked cowboy bebop pretty much, also an anime (a bit old and not so popular) Prince of tennis ha great humour

People that haven't seen anime should really try it!!

ye, i've seen it and it's a lot better then the first one though, it even got better graphics then from the series

too bad there only this crappy mission fill in naruto, really want something related to the story to happen!
